39 Week Baby Belly

I didn’t think I’d get to the feeling ready part of this pregnancy, but I’m definitely there. I love the belly, I don’t love the breathlessness, exhaustion, antisocialness of this stage of pregnancy. I’m content to wait it out at home in the company of my family and maybe odd close friend. I do however still try to take Oria out to the park or for a walk most days still, the weather is nice and she likes the adventure.
I have no reason to believe this baby will be early or even on time for that matter. Judging by my appetite I’m in for delivering a 10 pound baby! I remember not eating much towards the end of my pregnancy with Oria, this time, ferocious appetite. Weird. I’ve gained 30 pounds so I’m happy with that, no new stretch marks that I am spot, I have gotten more stretch marks in life from everyday weight fluctuations, not pregnancy.
Oria has one main concern for this baby once its born. She says “this baby will be cold when it comes out of your belly”. I asked her if she remembered being cold when she was born and she said yes. I’m pretty sure this baby will be warmer than warm with a big sister like Oria around.

And it is in quiet moments, I’m filled with gratitude. This place in my life filled with love, joy and beauty. The gift of fertility. The joy of a child’s laughter and dependence on you.

These special times that will last only a few short years before becoming something else. I will hold on tight to these moments. Family. Nurturing babies, toddlers, children, a husband.

I am grateful to be given this time to be a mom and a wife. My life is filled with lavish gifts that come in the form of support, laughter, love, hugs, kisses, kind words and the most special people.

A little morning adventure to the Trout Lake Farmers Market. Oria found herself snacking on garden fresh carrots by the bunch and organic strawberries. She seemed to really connect with all the beautiful pink Peonies as well. I’m pretty sure she spent about 10 solid minutes touching, smelling and listening to them. I also spotted the largest succulents I’ve ever seen before.
Lots of colour, freshness and excitement!
