This has brought me to tears. It’s just so lovely to see the young girls participating in this special time. I’m not a god person, but the video is beautiful.
And it is in quiet moments, I’m filled with gratitude. This place in my life filled with love, joy and beauty. The gift of fertility. The joy of a child’s laughter and dependence on you.
These special times that will last only a few short years before becoming something else. I will hold on tight to these moments. Family. Nurturing babies, toddlers, children, a husband.
I am grateful to be given this time to be a mom and a wife. My life is filled with lavish gifts that come in the form of support, laughter, love, hugs, kisses, kind words and the most special people.
Day 5 - Home
Is wherever my Family is. We’ve been in the same house for the last 7 years, so this apartment in a house just off of Main Street feels like home to me, but I’m always open for a small house, yurt or trailer on a piece of land, with chickens and gardens and fruit trees, and children and love around me. So home is really where my people are. I love my people.
We didn’t stray too far from the house today. It was a lovely day, but our patio was cool and shaded, and my little and my husband are both a little bit sick, and in the state I’m in, being on a comfy porch couch feels pretty perfect.
I did manage to bake peanut butter cookies which the sickies were happy to sample. The rest are in the freezer for future treats.
We definitely have one! Until babe # 2 arrives and all bets are off when it comes to routine.
Oria and I have a lovely morning routine. I go to her at 8 am, we hang out on her bed for a bit and have a cuddle and a little chat. We’re both morning people and wake up happy, so this time together is usually enjoyable and full of conversation and affection.
I make us first breakfast usually oats and a smoothie. We sit together at the table and eat, until she says:
“I want to go give daddy a hug and a kiss”
He’s usually asleep and its now usually about 9, so she’ll come and wake him up this way, before we start our days adventures.
Beautiful is the relationship between my daughter and my husband. His gentleness and patience that he shows her. We’re lucky to have him around most days working from home, so Oria is completely comfortable with him. I find his patience beautiful (not something that comes easily to me). How he takes the time to have her cook beside him, time to read her more than a story at bedtime, and lets her “read” those stories to him. I guess these are things I didn’t have in my own life growing up, and appreciate watching them in my life now with my own child. I find it beautiful I chose a partner who compliments my parenting style with his patience and love.
I feel grateful everyday for my beautiful family and this life, this gift I’ve been given.
Welcome June, a month I know one thing for certain. Our family of 3 will become a family of 4.
GPOYKW - The Grandma Edition
Oria with her Gemma last summer. This kid is so lucky to have such wonderful grandparents in her life so regularly. Gemma likes to do Ride A Cock Horse to Banbury Cross horsey rides, Oria loves them equally.
Oh The Things We Saw
We drove 150 Km to Squamish today for a taste of the delicious Frost Bites snow cones. We wandered about the farmers market, climbed pretty pink trees, found cool purple bike racks that were pieces of art made like bicycles, took the dog for a hike along a river, and found a crushed up robins egg in amongst some twigs.
It was an epic adventure, with no nap for the toddler, which led to an epic meltdown once we arrived back home and an early bedtime.
We had a fantastic family day!
These two are so sweet. After two nights without her dad, Oria was pretty set on having her daddy read Her a story before bed tonight. I love the sweet snuggle that she does with him.
My heart.
What happens when a tired husband puts a tired toddler to bed. He just went in to read her a book, I found them like this 20 minutes later. My loves, these special moments.
Oria and her cousin Olivia. These two are 6 weeks apart, my cousin and I are 8 months apart, and our moms were a year apart. It’s neat to see these two having so much fun together!
