Well I’m going to do a day in the life, of a Tuesday with me and my girl.
Oria and I seem to have a weekly Tuesday routine. We get up and slowly get ourselves out the door (usually that means coffee and smoothies).
We’re out the door by 10 am, we were this week for sure. Then we hop on our bicycle and ride the 2 km from our house to the seawall for a lovely 15 minute ride to Granville Island. We love it here, because there are entertainers, pidgeons, good food and variety, and of course Granville Island Tea (they make the best masala chai in town).
We spend a couple hours on the island, which include our cup of tea, usually iced rooibos for Oria and chai for me. Then we enjoy a $2 crepe (thank you Toonie Tuesdays), and a pidgeon feeding and run about. After many tourists photograph my super adorable non fearful child, we take a small bike ride over to the playground to get out any excess energy before making our trek home.
We’re home by 12:15, in time for some lunch, this week was a hard boiled egg, raw carrots, cheese and a plum.
Nap time at 12:45 until 3. Break for mom.
Up at 3 and spend a little time around the house before heading out on a walk about and trip to the local Tea Swamp Park.
This week was nice because my cousin Cotty surprised us for a little visit at Tea Swamp, so we spent an extra long time there visiting and playing.
Home by 6:30 for dinner. Eat a late dinner, skipped bath time and Oria was in bed by 8:15.
I wasn’t far behind:)
A mothers day to remember. Here are a few of my favourite pictures from the day we had!
Crepes and coffee for breakfast. A walk through the endowment lands with Fenway. A hair cut. And an epic bike ride around Stanley Park, beer on patio, and picnic in the park, all of this with two of my favourite people.
I’m so lucky.
Oria brightens each day, and its a pleasure to spend my days with her finding new adventures to share together. Being a mom is a privilege I’ve been blessed with. You never know what this roller coaster ride of parenthood will bring, but I do know one thing for sure, I’ll end up with a smile on my face at some point during the day.
Happy mothers day to all the lovely mothers out there, including my mother in law Rosarie!
Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away…
A couple of beautiful days of weather in Vancouver. Our little family made it down to Spanish Banks with the dogs for super low tide yesterday. We flew the kite, it blew away, got super sandy, and packed away for next time. Oria explored the beach, drank some of the ocean, was happy, then not so much when she realized how wet she got! I think we all had a lovely time.
This morning we woke up to another beautiful sunshine-y day! Oria and I hopped on the bicycle and wandered down to Yaletown. We found a little park on the edge of False Creek. Oria stopped to twirl around in her purdy new dress from Gemma. So adorable.
We decided we needed some sugar and rode our bike through the downtown east side, and found ourselves a delicous Cartems Donut. Mmmm…we, I mean, Oria ate a carrot cake one, it was delicous and covered in oats! I decided on venturing on a direction I’ve not yet been with the bike, east through Strathcona and over to Commercial Drive before turning home, for a rest!
Here are some of the shots of the last couple of days that make me smile:)
Saturday, Family Day.
Today all 3 of us cycled the seawall to Granville Island, where we saw a live violin performance by a lady on stilts. Oria danced, stretched her legs, had a little snack. We took a short aquabus trip from Granville Island across the water to downtown. We continued riding our bikes along the seawall, through English Bay and into Stanley Park, where we let Oria out to play in the park, smell the delicious BBQing going on and have a snack at the greasy concession stand. From there we felt ambitious enough to cycle the entire route around Stanley Park, and it was lovely. Tug boats, horse drawn carriage, a cricket game, totem poles and ducks were seen.
We made the trek around Science World and up the big hill to home. 30 km by bicycle well spent. What better way to spend a day with your family?!
Bike rides and Granville Island. What else is there? Candied salmon pieces, fresh blackberries and bread, playgrounds, birds, musicians, people watching…
Life is good over here.
Our day, it was a busy one. We all had a trip to the dentist chair. We hit up 2 parks. We had a lovely long walk in the sunshine with the dog, and we enjoyed a slice of pizza outside a shop on Main Street.
Sweetness
What a lovely day we had with Tia Marggini. The sun was shining bright and Oria was pure sweetness -full of cuddles, kisses and hugs.
The day took us for a trip to the play gym, where Oria enjoyed rounds of somersaulting and trips down the slide. A good hour and a half long nap, and then a walk to the park for more sliding and running around.
A little imagination…
Oria having a conversation with her dada on her toy car phone while we were playing at the park.
