Dessert. Market strawberries and cream.

I love living in a City where the weather is mild enough year round to get out on the bike or for a good walk about.  My almost 6 month pregnant-ness is much less able bodied to get up the hills here, but a nice little ride to Granville Island is always lovely.

Today’s strawberries were almost as big as apples and sweet and delicious, the flowers were aromatic, chai tea was comforting and my super independent little held my hand almost the entire time (melting heart).

Usually we buy food for the pidgeons but last time we were down here the pidgeons kept landing in Oria’s hair and she didn’t love that so much, so the picture of her with her hands on her head is her protecting herself this time.  We didn’t buy food today and no birds nested in her hair, but chasing pidgeons is more fun than anything else, that and eating these delicious strawberries.

A week in review.

Last Saturday, Oria and I rode our bikes off of the BC Ferries from Vancouver and into Victoria.  It was a 35 km ride in along the Lochside Trail.  The Lochside Trail is a beautiful, relatively flat ride along oceanside, through farmland, eventually coming into the City.

We stayed with Gemma and Papa Ron for a few days.

While we were in Victoria, We collected rocks at the beach, had a BBQ, we visited Beacon Hill Park, bushwacked, climbed rocks, hit up the petting zoo, ate ice cream, visited friends, and after a wonderful time, we hopped back onto the bicycle and cycled the 35 km back to the ferry through salt air and farm land.

On our ride home, We saw ginormous pigs, horses riding the trail with us, chickens and rabbits.  We stopped in at local farms and ate fresh strawberries.  It was lovely.

Here are some of our stories (photographs).

Tourist In Our Own Town

Vancouver is such a pretty City, especially when the sun shines.  There are many free and cheap spaces to be entertained and have alot of fun, especially with a toddler.

A $5.50 aqua bus ride to Granville Island = Fresh blueberries, strawberries, muffins and a pidegon chase with a busy little girl not only put a smile on my face but I noticed many other faces light up too:)
